Laurel Murray
Finalist in the 2006 Ottawa Businesswoman of the Year Award, Laurel Murray is a chartered accountant specializing in governance, financial and strategic management and reporting; performance measurement and risk management.
Laurel has over twenty years experience managing and implementing complex projects for federal and provincial departments and many organizations in the private sector. Her specialties include anaylzing existing financial and management processes and practices and developing and implementing practical, cost effective improvements.
In 2005 Ms. Murray was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) by the Premier of Ontario and recently she was appointed Chair of the LCBO’s Audit Committee. Ms. Murray was also the author of the Treasury Board Secretariat's Guidebook for Departmental Audit Committees.
Prior to starting her own firm, Laurel was a senior manager with the Ontario Government’s Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and previous to that she was a manager with KPMG, one of the world’s largest public accounting firms.
